The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden is a meditation on grief, repression, and the desire to reach beyond the boundaries of loss. Set within a mysterious, dreamlike garden, the painting stages an encounter between the living and the dead. The beekeeper serves as a symbolic figure of the mourner, enclosed within layers of protective veiling that simultaneously shield and isolate him. These barriers echo the emotional and existential distance that separates him from the girl beyond the gate.

The garden functions as a liminal space - part memory, part dream, part afterlife - where the impossible becomes momentarily imaginable. Although the figures appear close enough to touch, they remain divided by layers of metal, fabric, and silence. The painting explores the tension between longing and impossibility, asking what it means to seek connection with those who are gone while confronting the limits of that desire.
